Always playing with fire

A new urban getaway opens just an hour and a half south of the San Diego-Tijuana border. Chef Javier Plasencia has created a slice of paradise in the town of San Antonio de las Minas in the Valle de Guadalupe. This beautiful rustic home is just beginning of the boutique bed-and-breakfast concept which will include eight additional villas in 2016.

Valle de Guadalupe has enjoyed quite the growth over the last few years. The area has been attracting more and more visitors discovering the charm of this wine region just east of Ensenada. Several new offerings for accommodations have sprung up in the past year alone. With the strong food culture of the area, food explorers and interested top chefs have been flocking here for inspiration and a break from city life.

We were invited to experience Finca La Divina ourselves at the soft opening over the weekend. The intimate event showcased the property’s diverse offerings such as the outdoor kitchen space, alfresco dining areas, the beautiful accommodations and the multiple options for quiet relaxation.

Told you it was relaxing!

The event itself was energized with live music, extraordinary food from Finca Altozano (chef Javier’s nearby rustic restaurant), Baja wines, a beer tasting from Bohemia, fresh cheeses, breads and marmalades. It was an experiential feast in a beautiful location surrounded by families, laughter and friends new and old.

My favorite table…. EVER!

It is certainly a lovely reprieve from city life yet close to everything the area has to offer. I will definitely be returning with my own family and friends.

Feel free to check out the website for more information details. Will you be a guest Finca La Divina? Tell them a gal and her forks sent you. 😉

Happy Exploring,
