The Battle of the Chef Bands
San Diego chefs hung up their aprons and donned their rock star skills for a music and food mashup at the famed North County music venue, Belly Up, Monday January 27th, for a fun-raiser benefiting the Center for Community Solutions. The event brought out the industry and supporters in FULL FORCE with familiar local faces like Stone’s Greg Koch, La Valencia’s Daniel Barron, Snake Oil’s Michael Esposito, Carnitas’ Snack Shack’s Hanis Cavin, Urban Solace’s Matt Gordon (who ripped on his guitar, btw) and more with hosts Sam “The Cooking Guy” Zien and DiningOutSD’s Josh Kopelman.
Chefs from local eateries like Jayne’s Gastropub, Bo Beau, Hodad’s, Solare and Urban Solace, took to the stage and looked just as comfortable as they are behind the counter. Judges rated the Chef Bands and for the first year the food felt the heat too under the watchful eye of Chef Patrick Ponsaty.
The event held a small silent auction and tasting stations from many generous purveyors of the San Diego Community. MC’s, Josh Kopelman and Sam Zien, were the perfect pair for the job and had the crowd pumped for this non-traditional but incredibly lively event.
