Chef Javier Plascencia Breaks Ground in Little Italy!
Little Italy is teeming with incredible culinary hot spots so it is NO surprise that Chef Javier Plascencia has chosen this buzzing neighborhood for his next restaurant, bracero.
Bracero, which means one who works with their hands and arms, is inspired by the Mexican laborers who were contracted to fill in with the labor shortage during WWII. Bracero will certainly be a labor of love for the restaurateur with it’s modern Mexican cuisine. Guests can expect small & large plates along with family-style dining options highlighting Mexican spirits and baja wines.
The two-story restaurant will create two different experiences for diners with a more casual 1st floor (which will not require reservations) and a second floor with a casual but slightly more sophisticated culinary experience and focus on craft Mexican mezcal and tequilas. This will be the reservation to covet come March 2015 when Bracero expects to open it’s doors.

Here’s a little video about the U.S. Bracero Program if you have 5 minutes to spare. It is an interesting piece of our history.
