San Diegans love their live music so it may be a surprise to hear that one of our great venues is closing it’s doors permanently. Anthology, San Diego’s live music venue located in Little Italy was famed for attracting great jazz and blues artists to the area then expanding it’s genres while also providing a beautiful, upscale, supper club atmosphere.
Casey Pukl of Anthology announced Friday that indeed owner, Howard Berkson, would be officially closing and not re-opening, which originally was rumored.
We speculate the San Diego market was unable to sustain the pricier venue to keep it fruitful for Berkson but they aren’t saying. Anthology was a great experiment and we will be sad to see it go.
