11 Years of Culinary Magic

We love a great culinary competition… obviously. This is one I particularly look forward to EACH year, though! Remember last year?

The Chef’s Showdown is a full production, – lights, camera, action – and filled with celeb chefs and respected food industry judges. Three hard core FOOD PASSIONARIES – Michelle Lerach, Flor Franco & Yolanda Selene Walther-Meade – have come together to create one amazing event for the benefit of Center For Community Solutions, which aims to prevent domestic abuse/sexual assault/elder abuse and promote healing for those affected.

San Diego’s own Sam Zien from “Sam, The Cooking Guy”, will once again be the host of the event adding a special kind of humor that only he can produce. 😉 Each year the judging panel consists of local chefs/mixologists and food writers who have proven they have an impeccable palate. Two teams of five chefs and mixologists will battle it out in 5 separate ingredient competitions that will be judged by 6 panel judges PLUS (new this year) one lucky BIDDER who will judge for the People’s Choice Award.

I am deeply moved to support the Center for Community Solutions in assisting over 11,000 children, individuals and families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault and elder abuse each year, as we all likely know someone to have been affected by one of these issues. I am also incredibly excited to devour the culinary creations from some of San Diego’s top chefs and mixologists as they battle it out for judges favorite and People’s Choice in the 11th Annual Chef Showdown! ~ Honorary Chair, Yolanda S. Walther-Meade

During the heated competition, attendees (over 600 of them)  will be treated to food & beverages from 20+ San Diego dining establishments and sample an array of wines and spirits. There is also a silent auction to benefit the CCS.

This event is pricier than your average food event in San Diego, of course, because the true purpose is to raise funds for a much needed cause but sometimes another gala just won’t do. I love this event, what it stands for and the fun it provides. If this event is not within your reach, The Center for Community Solutions has many opportunities to help support their efforts of advocacy, protection and healing. Please check out their organization to see how you too can get involved.
