The Baja Heavy Weight Has Left the Building

Or rather, he has decided to hone in on his south of the border businesses and upcoming new projects. Unfortunately, that means Chef Javier Plascencia leaving behind his San Diego footholds. Little Italy’s Bracero Cocina and Bonita’s Romesco’s will no longer keep Javier tied to a restaurant here but I’m sure we won’t easily be rid of him.

Just recently he added a new casual sandwich (torta) concept, Lupe!, on his Finca Altozano property in the Valle de Guadalupe wine valley located just east of Ensenada, making it a destination that can accommodate many tastes and price points. Last year, Javier opened his first boutique B&B, Finca La Divina, which has since become a coveted sanctuary for many San Diego wine lovers who often head into the valley. Finca La Divina is scheduled to open the expansion of several additional suites on the property later this year.

Chef Javier Plascencia, Todos Santos, JazamangoChef Plascencia’s current focal point is a new restaurant (Jazamango) and boutique accommodations project in the artsy, Baja town of Todos Santos. Fellow surfers may know the Pescadero area well, 1.5 hours north of party central Cabo San Lucas. He expects to expand his hospitality empire but doesn’t rule out San Diego forever…. just for a little while. Keep tuned in for details on his festival collaborations in Todos Santos soon that will have you craving a trip to the warm sands in spring.
