The overcast morning held the mist over the crowd as they sauntered through Powerhouse Park in Del Mar, California on a Sunday morning. Team Liam gathered at 8am congratulating each other on the fantastic fundraising toward the cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Supporters from around the county descended on the beach for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, San Diego Chapter Great Strides walk-a-thon.[flagallery gid=10 name=”Gallery”]
Team Liam from the Liam Foundation consisted of family, friends, corporate sponsors and other generous supporters. All were greeted with hugs, thanks and enthusiasm. The crowd kicked off the walk after singing the national anthem led by friends and Shannon Hearne, sister of Liam Hearne. Liam (namesake of Liam Foundation) at the age of 19 is a bright star in the Cystic Fibrosis community waking each day to bring a smile to the world until a cure is found for he and all the others who suffer from, as the children say, “65 roses”. In the patriotic moment of reverence, we put our right hands over our heart, faced a car with 2 American flags attached to its windows and sang along. With that, the crowd began their stroll on a beautiful Southern California beach for a cause raising over $25,000 for research.
