Que Magnifiqué! The “Jewels of San Diego” truly sparkled magnificently on Saturday, April 9th, when the Carousel du Louvre committee hosted a grand affair at the Sheraton San Diego Resort and Marina. The crowd of bejeweled sauntered through the massive white tent erected for the extravagant runway show. The reception hosted vendors of luxury furs, jewelry, purses and accessories fit for the fashion elite in attendance. A generous 20% of all sales was donated back to the beneficiary charity, the ARC of San Diego, whose programs provide services for those with disabilities throughout San Diego.

Lunch was served at the foot of a grand runway stage flanked by a Parisian backdrop. San Diego’s long time news anchor, Carol LeBeau, was emcee for the day. The live auction excited the crowd with lavish trips to Paris & Colorado, fabulous stays at local spa retreat Rancho Valencia in Rancho Santa Fe and gorgeous gems, such as an amazing 23+ carat blue topaz provided by the Diamond Boutique in Del Mar. A wonderful gesture of gratitude was offered by Mr. Charles Eshnauer of the Office of Mayor Sanders; a proclamation to Rich & Gabby Sulpizio and John & Phyllis Parrish for their incredible generosity to the community named April 9th a their “day” for San Diego.
Once the announcements, proclamations, auction roundups and coffee had been served, the lights went dim and the tingles of excitement began. Music reminiscent of the cafes of Paris filtered through the room. The art and creativity of the show entertained the attendees not only with beautiful garments but whimsical visual eye candy. The production by Leonard G. Simpson was filled with a magical whimsy that was enjoyed by all.
Kudos to the ARC of San Diego and the Committee Members who brought a fun and exciting event to the audience. That what we at Giving Scene are always looking for… organizations with a bold vision and understand the value of fresh and new. It was a pleasure ARCSD and congratulations.
