Feathers, sequins, furs and flappers were in over-abundance as guests arrived at the classic San Diego landmark, the El Cortez. The El Cortez was the perfect setting for the evening that was to resemble a Prohibition time speakeasy. Not just the guests but chefs and mixologists alike were in the “spirit” of the time with classic cocktails such as “Bathtub Gin” and an oyster bar with a selection of different types named and categorized for the theme of the event. As masters of their craft, you could see the excitement and enthusiasm as crowds gathered to hear the intricate details of each cocktail and dish. “Cigarette Girls” walked the event selling the opportunity drawing tickets for a gorgeous donated Corum watch donated by Martin Katz Jewelers in Rancho Santa Fe (valued at $30,000). After the live artist performance the police raided the joint ushering guests into the Don Room to be seated where the attendees were able to sweep up some amazing live auction items and toast the importance of the March of Dimes’ fight for babies.
Another successful night on the Giving Scene.
