Latin Food Fest

started out slowly at the El Cortez for the kick off celebration with a few vendors in a large space and sparse attendance but the music was great! (Biased. B-Side Players are always one of my local favorites.)  I spotted a few chefs mixing it up with our local chef community. They definitely looked like they were enjoying the tequila tastings 😉

LatinFoodFest-19 LatinFoodFest-18 LatinFoodFest-14LatinFoodFest-6The Saturday Grand Tasting event was held at the Broadway Pier Pavilion and it was a GORGEOUS day on the water and the sun was HOT. There was no shortage of people vying for a cool beverage & a seat under the shaded space at the large mobile bar. The festival vendors were indeed incredible where attendees were treated to THE original Ceasar’s Salad (YUM), Baja Olive (who we see everywhere now), a good selection of Baja wines & food from Chef Flor Franco who used a Barrely Made smoker for her pork dish. BTW… That Barrely Made smoker was the coolest smoker I have ever seen.

The event was a little disjointed with vendors spread out in front of the pavilion, inside the pavilion and on the back side of the pavilion. A look of confusion could be seen on those looking for the rest of the event as they wandered throughout but all in all it was a fun first Latin with great food and drink, dancing and entertainment which was the point ultimately. Can’t wait to see how they pull it together next year!
