Stuffy Be Gone! La Jolla Landmark Makes A Drastic Change at Cafe La Rue.
OMG!!! Cafe La Rue in La Valencia is a full 180 degree difference than the nostalgic Whaling Bar that you may remember. Way back in late November, Chef Daniel Barron (btw… he’s a rock star chef) sat with me and gave me a mini tour of the innards of his lair. He told me all about his plans for Cafe La Rue but honestly, I couldn’t even FATHOM the thought of a complete transformation of the Whaling Bar to Cafe La Rue. I have held off on posting that PROFILE until the GRAND OPENING but I can’t contain myself. You MUST stop in to visit the new open, airy simply refreshing new cafe. It transports you back to a time of familiarity with locals, friendly service and delectable, sophisticated but CASUAL feeling food. I can’t really explain it but it feels like I’ve known these peeps forever. Cafe La Rue WILL be a long-standing regular stop in just as the old Whaling Bar once was… decades ago.
PRETENTIOUSNESS BE GONE! BRING BACK THE REGULARS. THEY ARE READY FOR YOU.
I apologize for the OH SO SHORT update but I just thought you really ought to have Cafe La Rue on your radar if you don’t already. CHEERS! Say hello to bartender Jack and tell him what you are looking for. He will hook you up to a perfectly paired cocktail to suit your palate and Chef? You will see him. He is the boisterous guy with the gotee, chef’s coat and chapeau. BE CAREFUL! Tell him you are hungry and you will have to be ROLLED out to your car.
GO. You Won’t be sorry. Check out #HappyHour Sunday – Friday 4pm – 6pm & 10pm – close. Bites… $6 SERIOUSLY.
