Hibiscus flowers, ocean breezes, outriggers, big wave surf, Spam and palm trees. The images of hawaii are seared into my brain. The paradise jewel is one that calls on anyone looking to venture safely within the boundaries of our country while escaping from all that is generally familiar. The long haul to the islands is not one that we can pull off often but thankfully we have some locals who like to share a little aloha everyday.
ONO YUM is bringing a piece of the islands to you Tuesday, May 26th at the Bali Hai on Shelter Island for the I Love Poke Festival. In it’s 6th year, the casual poke competition will host 17 chefs to compete for the title of BEST POKE. Live music and island-inspired sample bites from 15 other restaurants will keep hungry fans happy and fed.
“It’s going to be another delicious San Diego event,” said Nino “Neens” Camilo, producer of I Love Poke and founder of ONO YUM (formerly www.ilovemusubi.com). “The chefs are excited and eager to compete, and they’ve already taken to social media to scope out their competition — it’s all in the name of good food and good fun!”
Purchase your tickets ($65pp) before the event sells out. It does every year.
