Spring Forward: A Tangerine Wedding
Color authority, Pantone, has selected Tangerine Tango as its 2012 color of the year. The citrus hue is a mixture of dramatic red and warm, sunny yellow. It’s a versatile shade in that it works as both a central and accent color for many occasions.
I enjoy weddings infused with a spirited color palette, especially spring nuptials. What better way to break through the doldrums of winter than to announce a new marriage, and season, with colors beaming of joy and vigor?
This citrus-infused wedding was held at the beautiful, historic La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla. The couple picked cream as their color foundation to highlight their chosen hues of berry, green, and tangerine. The juicy tones were used throughout the event décor, including the wedding party’s wardrobe.
The bridesmaids wore coral Calypso sheaths paired with shiny, gold strappy sandals and jewelry. To add a bit of flair, pink and gold clutches were added to complete the look. Divine!
Sartorially, the groomsmen did not disappoint. Their smart, tawny suits were embellished with cantaloupe colored ties; brown belts and shoes completed the look. Together, the groomsmen and bridesmaids made for a fresh, fashionable statement.
The bride and groom chose attire matching with the color theme of the bridal party, but stood out in a distinct way. The bride harmonized her look to match the neutral background of the nuptials; she wore a white dress and carried an all-white floral bouquet. The groom picked a grey suit tying his look with the groomsmen by donning a cantaloupe tie.
The wedding party was stunning; their look encompassed varying colors, textures and patterns, purposefully non-matching, yet cohesively put together.
In planning your wedding, I hope you find inspiration in the color aesthetics this couple chose. Perhaps your Tangerine Tango is a soft pastel or an earthy neutral. The key in finding your desired wedding look is to fully explore the varying combinations of color, textures and patterns that express the ambiance and mood you aim to achieve during your special day.
