San Diego Natural History Museum Celebrates Environmental Collaboration on Both Sides of the Baja Region Border
December, 2010 | San Diego—On February 5, 2011, Co-Chairs Eleanor Navarra and Marie Tahan Daniels will welcome over 400 influential leaders from the business and regional civic communities and friends of the San Diego Natural History Museum in celebration of the many years of binational research and education collaboration between the Southern California and Baja California region. Each year, the Museum is transformed to celebrate our binational region and recognize two honorees who have contributed significantly to cross-border cooperation and environmental understanding. This year’s 2011 Dos Aguilas Honorees, the mother-daughter team, Yolanda Walther-Meade and Yolanda Selene Walther-Meade will be honored for their decade long commitment, promoting Dos Aguilas, the binational celebration that brings much needed research & programs to the region.

9TH DOS AGUILAS | TWO EAGLES HONOREES
Yolanda Walther-Meade, an active volunteer in the San Diego and Tijuana communities, is co-founder and board member of Fundacion Internacional de la Comunidad, the first community foundation in Baja California, whose goal is to elevate the lives of those living in the communities of Baja California. She has served the Museum in many capacities in the last decade, including as Dos Aguilas | Two Eagles Co-Chair for eight years and has been involved with the University of San Diego in various volunteer positions for over 25 years, including 20 years as a Trustee of the University.
Yolanda Selene Walther-Meade, a leading consultant of Latino issues and Founding Board Member of Fundacion Internacional de la Comunidad and Boys and Girls Club of Mexico, Yolanda S. is Host and Special Events Producer of the San Diego Latino Film Festival. Yolanda S. Walther-Meade has co-chaired Dos Aguilas | Two Eagles for eight years alongside her mother, Yolanda Walther-Meade. She has been named “2002 Local Hero of the Year” by Union Bank and KPBS as well as one of Mexico’s “Top 5 Young Entrepreneurs” by COPARMEX.
Together the contribution to the region’s communities of this mother-daughter team exemplify the spirit of the Dos Aguilas | Two Eagles Gala vision.

Eleanor Navarra has been a supporter of the San Diego Natural History Museum since 1999 when, as a docent, she encountered the archived collection of A.R. Valentien, which she then championed into a Museum exhibition. Eleanor served on the Board of Directors from 2001–2010 and was Board Chair from 2006–2009.
Marie Tahan Daniels, President of Caelum Marketing, LLC and Editor of online magazine, Giving Scene SD, has been dedicated to promoting San Diego’s charitable events and the people who make them happen. Daniels, an active participant in several of San Diego’s non-profit organizations such as Kids Korps USA, Beach & Country Guild and Mission San Luis Rey, has been instrumental to the planning of Dos Aguilas for the past five.
