Cheap Trick Rocked the House for Promises2Kids
The skies atop La Jolla were alive with the sound of music… rock music that is on Monday, June 6th, where the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Famers, Cheap Trick, entertained a crowd of just 500+ supporters of Promises2Kids. The group was a big draw for those who were reliving high school days and recounting their first concerts.
Guests enjoyed a reception that included tray passed appetizers, silent auction items and a live auction that could make any chair proud so the results to all five gala chairs (Charo Garcia-Guerra, Abeer Hage, Deborah Marengo, Joan Waitt, and May Zawaideh) was certainly spectacular!

A speech by one of the recipients of the Promises2Kids’ Guardian Scholars program was heartfelt and tragic with a lesson to be learned for all in hopeless situations and inspired one not only to thank their lucky stars but was a reminder that grit, determination and love can propel anyone from the depths of hell. – The Guardian Scholars program allows for foster children to reach for college dreams once they age out of the system. – To listen to this young girl tell her story of her love of books and how they were her escape as a young girl with even younger siblings, living day to day in various disturbing locations like a meth lab while her mother was locked and held captive in a room, to hear her tell of her drive to care for and work three jobs for her little sister to live in a safe environment, to feel her hope for a better future was an awe-inspiring experience that made you want to help Promises2Kids achieve more for all the children that needed their support.
We will update the results here once we receive them from the organization but in the meantime, enjoy the photos from the Dream On Concert Gala.
