A Moonlight Shangri-La in the Wild

The Zoo’s 2011 black-tie fund-raising gala themed “Moonlight Shangri-La”  celebrated the 28^th anniversary of R•I•T•Z under the stars at the San Diego Zoo on Saturday, June 18, 2011. With a Challenge Match from Honorary Chair, Audrey Geisel, the San Diego Zoo raised a net of nearly $1.7 million to benefit the new Sumatran tiger habitat at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.  860 guests in attendance were treated to lavish appetizers, music, experiential auction items, hosted cocktails and a gourmet 3-course dinner.
