Chef Daniel Barron Strikes a Cord w/ Meat Lovers
Chef Daniel Barron is back on his game in San Diego. After a brief hiatus from America’s Finest City, he’s returned to put out his distinctive fare that, of course, weighs in on the carnivorous side of things. There were a few surprises on the menu that aren’t in the “comfort food” category, making for a friendly helping of variety.
Bull & Grain offers a plethora of Daniel Barron’s signature decadence like the Foie Gras Parfait, Lobster & Bacon Roll and Duroc Pork Shank but there are also some surprises. A vegan Butternut Squash Bucatini Pasta, an original take on a “wedge” salad and the Octopus Adobada seemed to be a slight departure from previous Barron offerings.
The week old Bull & Grain, has already been visited by many of the city’s noted foodies. The airy and open restaurant has opened in the Hillcrest neighborhood at 1263 University Avenue, near Richmond Street. The NEW opening coincidentally coincides with last weekend’s closing of Blush Ice Bar | East West Kitchen in the Gaslamp, Chef Daniel’s last San Diego home. Bull & Grain is currently open for lunch and dinner, closed on Monday’s and will open for brunch October 15th.
