The Mingei International Museum in Balboa Park was lit like a dream on May 7th in the center of San Diego’s famed cultural collection. Park-goers were made curious from outside the covered fence barrier. The music dancing across the plaza and the vivid, colorful lights beaming up into the sky filled the park with the beauty and sound of a vibrant cultural center.
The event, Bazaar Under the Stars, was a celebration of life and art and creativity on every level. There were hand made works of art from a range of disciplines. Artisans of jewelry, spirits and food also collaborated in this gathering to evoke an understanding of the care that goes into their crafts.
San Diego’s own Chef Claudia Sandoval, MasterChef winner of Season 6, put her talents to work by providing the passed hors d’oeuvres to guests and offered advance copies of her first cookbook for purchase and a personal signed message. Lovely, local socialite, Kristi Peiper purchased two cookbooks and had them signed by Chef Claudia claiming she doesn’t even cook, but she was so excited to support a fellow vivacious woman of our community.
